From Florida to Wisconsin
Some wedding stories begin long before the wedding day. For this couple, mine began in Florida in 2024, when I had the opportunity to photograph their engagement session.
On June 13, 2026, two years after their engagement photos, I found myself packing my bags and flying to Wisconsin to photograph their wedding day. Being trusted to capture both chapters of their story was such an incredible honor, and their wedding day was a beautiful reminder of why I love getting to build relationships with my couples.
I first met the McDuffees in 2024 when I photographed their engagement photos in Florida. At the time, we were capturing this exciting season of their relationship and celebrating their engagement. I never could have known then that I would eventually be traveling to Wisconsin to photograph their wedding. That’s one of my favorite things about being a wedding photographer—the opportunity to meet couples during one chapter of their lives and sometimes get to continue documenting their story as it unfolds. By the time their wedding day arrived, it felt so special to already know them. I had photographed them together before, knew their personalities, and had already been able to see the connection they shared. This time, though, they were getting married.
Their wedding day on June 13 was absolutely beautiful. From the setting to the details, every part of the day came together so beautifully. And I have to say—I’m still not over their color palette. There was something so effortless about the way everything worked together, creating a wedding day that felt elegant, warm, and completely their own. But just like any wedding, the details were only part of the story. The real magic was in the moments happening around them—the excitement, the laughter, the happy tears, the quiet moments together, and the people who traveled to celebrate alongside them. Those are the memories I love looking for behind my camera.
Having my couples trust me enough to travel for their wedding is something I never take for granted. When the McDuffees asked me to fly to Wisconsin and photograph their wedding, I was beyond excited. Destination weddings have always been something I’ve wanted to pursue more of, and getting to travel for a couple I had already photographed made this experience even more special. There’s something so fun about packing up my gear, heading somewhere new, and getting to document a wedding in a completely different setting. But more than the destination itself, I loved that this trip represented the relationship we had built since their engagement session.
What started with engagement photos in Florida eventually led to a wedding day in Wisconsin—and I feel incredibly lucky to have been part of both.
One of the greatest parts of this job is getting to know the people behind the photographs. Wedding photography is about so much more than taking beautiful pictures. It’s about being invited into some of the biggest moments of someone’s life and being trusted to preserve them. For the McDuffees, I got to capture the excitement of their engagement in Florida and then the joy of their wedding day in Wisconsin. Getting to see their story progress from one milestone to the next is something I’ll always treasure.
To the McDuffees—thank you for trusting me not once, but twice, to capture such meaningful moments in your lives. Thank you for bringing me along to Wisconsin, for trusting my vision, and for allowing me to document all of the little moments that made your wedding day yours. I’m so grateful that photography has taken me from an engagement session in Florida to a wedding day in Wisconsin, and I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me next.
Here’s to more destination weddings, more beautiful places, and more stories to tell through my lens. 🤍
